Together with other leaders in the space, we’ve created this guide to be used as a gateway for those interested in dipping their toes into the healthcare industry. Over the course of the pandemic and beyond, healthcare has seen an influx of talent because of the meaning and purpose behind the work. This new personnel, however, often does not understand the fundamental concepts of the US healthcare system. Accenture found that 52% of healthcare consumers are “healthcare illiterate,” yet 4 out of the 10 Fortune 10 companies are in healthcare. I saw a need for this guide and want to promote healthcare literacy for healthcare employees.
As someone who is also new to the industry and didn’t know much about the US healthcare system a few years ago (I still have a long way to go), I developed this guide during my own learning journey and most of the credit goes to the generous individuals and ample resources out there who have helped me.
